Mrs. Lord teaches Pre-K at GHCA.
Thank you so much for the lovely gifts.
Your love and support all year has been
amazing!!
I am so grateful to you for choosing to
give your child an education at
Greater Houlton Christian Academy.
I thank and praise God for allowing
me to be a part of your child's education.
Have a great summer!!
Love and Miss you already!!
Mrs. Lord :-)
I can not believe it is May already!!
Show and Tell is May 6th.
May 19th - Wednesday is the Pre K and K Bike-a-thon Activity Day! Details will go home next week.
Our
class goal is to raise $2,000.00!!
So if we work together, each student will need to raise $250.00 each.
If
we reach this goal by May 13th our class will receive either a pizza or
ice cream party!! :-)
May 20th is our last day together, so I
would like for us to have a closing picnic together at the Playground by
the tennis courts. I will plan to be there from 11:00am - Noon. If
you and your child could meet me there for a time of fun, food, and
fellowship that would be great!!
Have a great weekend!!
The end of Pre K's school year is approaching fast.
Here are a couple of important dates.

Again, enjoy your vacation!!
We have been talking about "On The Farm" and Zoo Animals over the last two weeks. We even had "Fluffy-Chic-Chic" the chicken (a real one) visit our classroom!!
Our topics of conversation has included pigs, cows, sheep, hens, goats, farmers, elephants, monkeys, gorillas, giraffes, zebras, kangaroos, koalas, lions, tigers, and Zookeepers. We are also learning to tell time to the hour, practicing our number dot patterns, and ordinals. We made a special snack called Elephant Ears, which was waffles sprinkled with powered sugar. Yummy!!
On March 30th there will be an all school Easter chapel at the Methodist Church and there is also an open house if you know of anyone interested in sending their child to Pre K please let them know about this day. I am planning for a normal day at Pre K so they would have a wonderful opportunity to see us in action!!
We will be celebrating Easter with a few special activities on Thursday, April 1st.
Our Spring Concert will be held at the Houlton Wesleyan Church at 6:30 pm. When you arrive at the church Mrs. Emery and I will be sitting up front. When we finish singing please come out to the nursery to take your child to sit with you for the remainder of the concert.
The year is going by so fast. Be sure to keep an eye on the school calendar located on our website at www.ghca.com
Here are a few dates to be aware of:

Over the past couple of weeks we have been learning about patriotic
symbols and the working of the mail system. Introductions to the
penny, dollar bill, and dime were made. We were finally able to have
our gray and pink bags!! We are busy, busy, busy in Pre K.
We have a new student practicum in our classroom, her name is Miss
Jorden. She will be in our class room two days a week every other
week.
The students enjoyed making their own icecream sundeas!!
Thank you so much for the valentines!!
Have a great vacation!!
Today is one of my favorite days, Groundhog's Day!
We talked all day about groundhogs.
I read Groundhog's Day by: Betsy Lewin
We sang "Groundhog, Groundhog" to the tune of "Twinkly, Twinkle, Little Star."
Groundhog, groundhog,
Dig, dig down.
Dig a burrow in the ground.
Your paws were made to dig, dig, dig.
Make your burrow big, big, big.
Groundhog, groundhog,
Dig, dig down.
Dig a burrow in the ground.
I Googled the real Punxsutawney Phil on the classroom computer. We saw
a picture of Ben Huges holding Punxsutawney Phil on Gobbler's Knob in
Punxsutawney, Penn. It told us today is the 124th Groundhog's Day and Phil saw his
shadow, predicting six more weeks of Winter!!
Our activities were all centered around groundhogs. We made paper craft groundhogs and
peeking/burrowing groundhogs.
We made color pattern noses for the groundhogs and matched the groundhogs to their shadows.
We also read: Groundhog Stays Up Late by:Margery Cuyler
Fluffy Meets The Groundhog by:Kate McMullan
A Garden For A Groundhog by:Lorna Balian
NO WONDER THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE DAYS!!!!!!!!
