Senior Trip (05/20/2010)

We are having a great time on senior trip so far. Today (Thursday) is a "recovery day" after walking all over Boston - some of that planned and some unplanned, taking in Quincy's market, and sitting in the off-and-on rain to watch the Red Sox win last night. Shopping, eating, swimming, sleeping, and fun time together is in store for today. Tomorrow is Six Flags of New England and the trip home. Please be praying for us as we travel through the night!

See everyone on Monday!

What's that light at the end of the tunnel? (05/04/2010)

We are definitely on the homestretch now that we've entered into the month of May! While excitement builds for the end of school and the beginning of summer vacation, students and teachers alike need to keep doing their very best "as unto the Lord." We don't want that light we see to be an oncoming train!

Spanish students can expect a weekly test over the week's current chapter from now until the end of the year. Don't slack off in your homework assignments as they are designed to help you on the tests!

Sign language students are preparing papers and presentations on some aspect of deafness and/or sign language. I'm looking forward to hearing from each one.

The seniors have just completed a unit on storytelling. We'll have a test on Thursday, May 6th.

Senior trip is May 18-21! It should be a great time!

Have a great Spring Break! (04/16/2010)

I'm praying that each of my students will have a blessed spring break! Get some rest, spend some special times with your families, and have fun! See you on Monday, April 26th, ready to finish off the year in grand style!

Spring into Action! (04/02/2010)

What beautiful weather we're enjoying right now! Let's use the energy from it to spring into action and finish the year well!

Spanish classes have been enjoying a couple of weeks of sharing dishes from Spanish-speaking countries and learning about the culture of food in other places. Now we must get back to work. We're going to begin having a test over the week's chapter every Friday. Maybe smaller doses of studying will prove more helpful.

After a couple of delays, the sign language classes are ready to present the Romans Road verses in signs for our next chapel. We are also beginning to learn to interpret music. I must admit watching videos of deaf choirs made me miss my deaf friends from around the world.

Speech students will begin giving their stories on Thursday, April 8th. Many are nervous about this assignment. I don't understand that at all since I hear many animated stories everyday in the halls. :>)

Senior planning is in full swing - college applications, scholarships, senior trip, graduation, applying for summer jobs, etc. They're a fun group to be around right now. Let's all keep praying for them as many important decisions are being made right now.

Spring Fever (03/18/2010)

Spring is definitely in the air - and in the minds of the students! We will do our best to enjoy the change of the seasons while staying focused on the work at hand. It's not time to slack off!

Spanish students have a 1-2 page paper due on Monday, March 22 about the food in the country they've been researching all year. They should also bring in a recipe that they plan to prepare for the class. There will be a sign up sheet for the day to bring in your food sample. I'm looking forward to trying lots of new dishes.

Speech students will be signing up on Tuesday for the date to give their stories. This assignment is one of the most enjoyable of the year - at least to the ones listening.

The presentation of the Romans Road in sign language was postponed from this past Tuesday to the first chapel in April due to the wild costumes some of the students were wearing that day. I thought it might detract from the message.

The junior class will be going to the Financial Fitness Fair in Limestone on Tuesday, March 30. This is always a fun day of learning to handle money in the real world.

Spirit Week was a big hit with the students. Mr. Angotti did a fantastic job of organizing everything and I thank him for all the time and effort he put into it.

Spanish Test (02/12/2010)

The Spanish tests taken on Friday, February 12th will be graded over the break. All other grades have been recorded on Surranet. Some students should check on the work that they owe and try to get caught up over break.

Teachers are just students in grown up bodies. (02/07/2010)

The truly educated person never stops learning. That is certainly true of the teachers at GHCA. We were blessed this past week to spend a day observing and learning at Concord Christian Academy and another day of very insightful workshops at the Granite State Educator's Conference. We do want to make our school the very best it can be for the glory of God.

Spanish I & II students have a test on Friday over chapters 11-13. Since you all are helping to write this test, I'm expecting great results. Don't forget the verse quiz over Filipenses 1:21 on Thursday.

Sign language students have done very well on learning their Romans Road verses in signs. We're working more on how to explain the gospel message to deaf people.

Seniors, your testimonies begin this Tuesday in speech class. I'm looking forward to hearing what the Lord has laid on each of your hearts.

One more thing to look forward to this week - the boys' basketball play-off game on Wednesday. Go Eagles!!!!

And we're off!!! (01/26/2010)

The spring semester always seems to fly by - especially for our seniors. If you seniors and your families are needing any help in the college and scholarship application process, please let me know. I'm here to help. I will also be listing helpful websites for you to visit under my "resources" page.

My sign language students are doing a great job in learning the verses for the "Romans' Road" in sign language. They will be quizzed on 4 verses on Wednesday. We will be learning how to explain the gospel in signs in the days ahead.

Speech students are currently presenting their Bible readings and doing a good job. I'm looking forward to their next assignment when they each share their testimonies.

Learning a language is a cumulative project and all Spanish students are going to have to work a little harder this semester to keep up with the exponential learning we'll be doing. Flag projects are due on Friday and there is a verse quiz over Hechos 16:31.

Welcome back! (01/07/2010)

Christmas break was great, but it's good to be back into the school routine.

Spanish I & II will be having a test over chapters 8-11 on Friday, January 15th. I highly recommend studying a little each night so you won't be doing a "panic cram" on Jan. 14.

Sign language students are learning the "Romans Road" in sign language. They have a quiz over the verses covered on Wednesday, Jan. 13.

Seniors are making good progress on their college/scholarship applications. We are trying to schedule a college planning night this month. I'll send out an announcement about that as soon as everything is finalized. If at any time during the the application or FAFSA process you have a question, don't hesitate to contact me.

"For the Lord God is a sun and shield: the Lord will give grace and glory: no good thing will He withhold from them that walk uprightly." Psalm 84:11

Have a great Christmas break! (12/22/2009)

I hope each of you have a wonderful Christmas break with lots of time for family, friends, rest, and Jesus! Take time to reflect on 2009 and make some new goals for 2010 that will draw you closer to the Lord. I'm certainly looking forward to doing this too!

If any of you receive nice new TV sets for Christmas and have an old one in GOOD working condition that you would like to donate to our foreign language classroom, it would be greatly appreciated. We are also in need of a video player and DVD player.

Feliz Navidad!!!
